Dakar 2012

Iveco & the Team Petronas de Rooy win Dakar 2012 with Gerard de Rooy and place 3 teams in the top 6.

Courage, commitment, determination and, above all, the strength and reliability it takes to overcome anything. These are the values that Iveco took into Dakar 2012, one of the world’s extraordinary challenges. We won as we torture tested our Powerstar and Trakker Evolution II vehicles, their technologies and performance, and the reliability of our Cursor 13 engines, from FPT Industrial.

The 2012 Dakar Rally is the 33rd running of the event. It is held in South America for the fourth successive time.

By March 17, 2011, Argentine President announced that the start will be in Mar del Plata,Buenos Aires, Argentina, the first stage will end in Bahía Blanca. The course will later cross the provinces of La Pampa, Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja and Catamarca before crossing to Chile and finally ending in Peru.

On January 9, 2011, Peruvian press announced that Peru would host the three final stages of the 2012 Dakar Rally, with Lima, the Peruvian capital, hosting the awards ceremony. The official announcement took place on February 18 in Paris.
