Irisbus is the second largest bus and coach manufacturer in Europe and is a member of the Iveco BV Group.

Irisbus is represented in the UK by its own wholly owned subsidiary, Irisbus UK Limited, the largest growing bus and coach importer in the UK bus and coach market.

Daily Minibus

The IVECO DAILY has been completely redesigned for the Irisbus range to provide both the driver and the operator with a world-beating MiniBus based on Iveco's wealth of experience and expertise. Built to drive like a car, but with the strength of a truck, the Irisbus Daily range of vehicles heralds a new benchmark in MiniBus manufacture, which others will find hard to follow.

With driver's comfort paramount in our design brief, the driver's area has been carefully planned, with all controls examined and re-examined to ensure that they are functional, easy to use and that the layout is ergonomically correct.

Seating is also very important for driver comfort, as we well know through our many years of experience in manufacturing heavy buses. It is no surprise then that we have used many of our trade secrets in the design of the Daily seating system. The Daily seat is adjustable for height, reach and rake providing the driver with an excellent driving position, which when coupled with the necessary support, gives total driver comfort.

Special attention has been given to reducing the noise within the saloon. With independent front suspension, improved engine performance and new body aerodynamics we have been able to reduce the noise level down to 68-dB(a) at 50 mph, similar to that of a modern passenger car.

The Daily features at its heart, a robust frame consisting of parallel side members with a "C" section made of high tensile steel. Complemented by high capacity front and rear axles, rear wheel drive and a choice of single or twin rear wheels, the Daily frame is supremely adaptable and will suit most customer requirements. With disc brakes all round, ABS and power steering as standard, all Daily models are safe and easy to drive as a car and exude confidence.

The Daily is available in three defined forms, serving three defined market sectors.

The Daily Chassis Cowl is supplied as a bare chassis, complete with cab cowl. It is for users who need to build custom made bodies.

The Daily Minibus Body Shell features a choice of sliding side door or plug door passenger access and factory produced panoramic saloon windows. All models are supplied without seats but with a fitted out interior. An aluminum floor with nine rows of quick release M2 tracking is fitted. It is for users who are looking for a vehicle with a truly flexible capacity.

The Daily MiniBus and the Daily MiniCoach are complete finished vehicles ready for the road. MiniBuses have a sliding side door whilst the MiniCoach has the plug door. All models feature factory produced panoramic saloon windows and outstanding styling. Options for the coach include TV Video Monitors and Air Conditioning.

Bus Division

The bus market is very exacting across the whole of the British Isles .

With the pressure on reducing road congestion, every effort is being made to entice the travelling public away from their motorcars and into public transport.

All customers demand, and have every right to expect, first class service in terms of timing and reliability with buses that provide the ultimate in ease of access, comfort and a travel experience equal to their expectations.

Irisbus recognise these aspirations and have used their wealth of knowledge and skill in solving passenger transport problems worldwide to bring to the market three individual bus products. Each one brings with it benefits and an ability to provide a solution to many of the issues facing the operator today.

School Bus

Nothing is more important to the future of society than the safety of our children and nowhere is this more apparent than during their daily trips to school or travelling to events organised by their school or leisure association.

This aspect of modern life was the driving force behind the decision by Irisbus to introduce "Scolabus 24" to the UK market. The predecessors of the "Scolabus 24" have been operating in Europe for over six years and its credentials have been proved with more than three hundred vehicles in regular daily service.

They are built to meet the latest safety and environmental legislation and are designed to be developed to meet all known future legal expectations.

The first key safety feature is that the "Scolabus 24" has a high floor line to ensure that all the children are seated above the "crash zone" in the event of a front and side impact. Moreover, in the unlikely event of a vehicle rollover, it is satisfying to know that the body meets the European R66 legislation which specifies a construction strong enough to prevent the roof collapsing onto the children.

The seats are similarly built to high safety standards. Each seat is fitted with an "All Age" three point lap and diagonal seat belt so that, irrespective of the child's age or size, they can be transported with maximum comfort and security. The seats themselves are bolted directly to the floor which meets the relevant EU Directive 76/115 and is capable of withstanding a pull test of 4.5 tonnes per seat. All seats are individually numbered to permit personal allocation. This allows an easy check to be made to ensure that no-one is missed as well as guarding against vandalism.

This initial review of the benefits of the Irisbus "Scolabus 24" would be incomplete without referring to the contribution it makes to reducing congestion on the road. With its seating capacity of 68 passengers plus the driver, schools using the "Scolabus 24" will see a noticeable reduction in traffic around the school gates with the consequent improvement in safety and the surrounding air quality by allowing parents to leave their cars in the garage.
